The Kristie Ann Gonzalez Lung Awareness Foundation was organized in 2009 by family and friends of Kristie Ann Gonzalez. The family was shocked when Kristie became ill and so quickly turned for the worse. To bring hope to those who will be touched by this virus and to help educate the medical community are the reasons the Kristie Ann Gonzalez Lung Awareness Foundation exists.

The foundation was established May 29, 2009 for the purpose of supporting families suffering from Adnenovirus as well as educating the community about the disease. The board of directors include: Nancy Tamayo, BS, DC , Cris Shade, MD, PhD, and Polly Gonzales.

Annually, the foundation gathers for various fund-raising events to benefit the foundations work in the area of Adenovirus research.
